1967 saw their first 45rpm record cut an exciting time for them all. This was a recording contract with Elektrola (EMI) in Germany. The first release being called Time To Go with the B side titled Wow Wow Wow. Unfortunately the record didn’t sell well enough to dent the charts either in Germany and they were little know over here in the UK apart from probably a few die hards from the Sheffield area who may have followed the Boston’s fortunes from their roots.
The years they spent in Germany and their experience in supporting artists such as Little Richard, Bill Hailey and Jimi Hendrix proved to be an apprenticeship preparing them for the international fame that was to come their way later.
The Boston International Showband as they had become known, became popular on the stages in Germany and as you have all ready guessed their one month contract had been extended. They played at the Star Club and Top Ten Club both in Hamburg as well as at The Star Palost, Kiel, Lubuck and many more. They stayed in Germany until 1972 when he received the phone call that would change his life forever, the Glitter phenomenon had begun.
